Order Entry Application Quality Assurance Testing
The Challenge
To simplify its order entry process, reduce call handle times, improve revenue assurance and streamline new offer introductions, a cable provider decided to implement a new Enterprise Product Catalog (EPC). The EPC would centralize, categorize and store all of the cable provider’s products, bundles and offers, as well as manage and maintain compatibility rules and relationships between products, features, bundles, offers and promotions. The client chose pureIntegration to spearhead the testing of the EPC due to its expertise in testing and quality assurance, knowledge of the cable industry, past successes with complex initiatives involving multiple stakeholders and proven ability to simultaneously work beside and train employees.
The Solution
pureIntegration, using resources who are both business and technically focused, aimed to provide testing value at each stage of the SDLC. Key elements of this approach included:
- Comprehensive Requirements Analysis – our teams worked with product owners and engineers to understand requirements and the impacts of future enhancements with the goal of more complete test coverage
- Higher-Value Test Case Creation – our teams collaborated with development organizations to create detailed test scenarios and worked to identify areas for test automation
- Executive-level Reporting – our teams translated testing results to readable information that informed business decisions
To ensure continued, long-term success, pureIntegration trained and mentored the client’s employees on best practices for automated testing and product functionality.
The Business Benefits
Quality assurance testing was completed on time and the client’s new Enterprise Product Catalog was released for user acceptance testing in two markets. In those two markets, pureIntegration’s automated solution improved the transaction pass rate from 74% to 93%, helped identify a large number of system defects and significantly enhanced requirements analyses. pureIntegration’s training of the client team resulted in an exponential increase of test execution rates and enabled the team to find more gaps in requirements, develop better test cases and identify more defects earlier in the process.
